How to get photographers as your podcast guests.
If you are a podcaster who is specializing in creating podcasts based on photography or videography then this is the perfect blog for you to understand how to acquire guests from various fields of photography. It can be food, portrait, nature, etc.
So before diving into the details make sure what kind of field you are going to choose. It can be of a single field like food or modeling or nature or wildlife etc. It can also be of photography as a common profession which comprises of all the fields. Once you know what is your why (a.k.a. Purpose) then it will be easy for you to get started with your journey.
In this blog, we will look after various ways of acquiring photographers as a guest to your podcast show. So, according to my research, there are three methods.
1.Social Media:
This is something that everyone knows, that we can contact photographers through social media. But how, is a question that prevails for so many people.
#1 Use Hashtags Insta Strategy
There are many ways to find the best hashtags that are popular on Instagram. The process is explained step by step below.
- Search for #photography on Instagram and you will find many hashtags that have a different amount of followers and posts. One of my suggestions is to try to get into hashtags that have a moderate amount of posts. Because a common hashtag will have posts that may not be a professional photographer’s post.
- If you are having the heart of dealing with no responses during the first try itself means then you can dm those posts of people who are in the top section. Because they will be someone who has a large number of followers and even if they reply it will be hard to get them into your show. Unless it contributes a huge value from your side. But when you are starting out it won’t be possible. But don’t worry there always will be people starting out just like us.
- So the third step is to go to the recent section.
- Find some appealing pictures for you.
- Then go to the owner of the post and DM them about your show and everything. If you want to have a template of the text then click here. You will get a personalized template for getting people onto your show (Especially photographer’s)
#2 Facebook groups
- Search for photographers on Facebook.
- Go to the Groups sections and you will find a lot of groups that have thousands of photographers. Again you have to identify whos is your targeted listeners based on that you can find people.
- Then follow the same go to a member’s page or profile and provide some value and ask them to get onto your podcast.
- It won't be successful at first or maybe it will but whatever the result is don’t get stuck just move forward.
Then the same aspect will apply for any kind of group. Let it be Instagram, Whatsapp, Telegram, etc.
2. Stock Images Websites
So this website has listed the 21 stock images websites you can check it out. Don’t worry am promoting him or anything this is just a reference.
I am going to show how to get those people from those websites onto your show. I have done it so you can do it too.

Now, I will show you an example of one site and it is the same process as all the other sites. Am gonna take my favourite site which is pexels.
Once you are inside Pexels you can find a variety of categories. I think this is the third time am saying this. “It depends on your audience what your category is about”.
So let's say mine is portrait photography then look at the image below.
As you can see I have searched for portrait photography and some amazing pictures have come. These are taken by professional photographers who are in the business field and also passionate photographers who may do it just for fun.
But the point being, both of them can provide extreme value to your podcast as they are talented as heaven.
Let's get on to step 3
Click any image which fascinates you and go to the profile of the photographer. Before doing that make sure that you like that picture because of this it will not only make the photographer feel good but also increases the chances of getting him/her onto your show.
You can give a follow also because no money is going to go down from your side it’s just a single click. But it is a big deal for the person on the other side. So do consider doing it.
So we are on to the final step which is approaching the photographer. Once you went into his profile you can see the Instagram profile of the person you can hop on to that and ask him out.
